The ProsperPicks model weighs the following Factors:
Delinquencies - An emphasis is placed on excluding listings that have current delinquencies. Delinquencies over the previous 7 years are also weighed.
Public Records - The presence of public records in the previous 10 years is a factor in selecting ProsperPicks.
Loan Amount - The size of the loan requested is weighed because the higher the loan amount the higher the monthly payment, which often correlates to the risk of default.
Rate - The rate offered is weighed against the perceived risk of default.
Credit Grade - We weigh the credit worthiness of the borrower very heavily.
Length of Established Credit - Although this is already factored in the credit score, we consider it again to insure that adequate credit history is present.
DTI (Debt-to-Income) Ratio - The DTI ratio is linked closely in many cased with the ability to repay, therefore it also is considered in our model.
Loan Description - Although the loan description is supplied by the borrower and not subjected to scrutiny by a third party we still consider it; as a well written description explains to the borrowers intended use of funds, plan for repayment, family situation, etc.
